This is for a project called Art for Water.
I had made a tshirt with this image already, but I thought it would go well with this
new graphite stuff too.

more details on this later.

I was invited by 40/04 to produce a piece for Questioning Print, an exhibition aiming to examine the role of contemporary print.
QP explores the print possibilities that can be  achieved, with a particular focus on the process  of collaboration that exists between artist   and printer.
For Cancel Print, I chose to explore printmaking effects that were only possible through the process of inkjet printing. The image is made from 21 layers of ink, with each being cancelled prematurely to show the process of CMYK ink application in a home inkjet printer.

This is an original drawing in gouache and burning on a salvaged notebook page with found writing titled ‘becoming a shadow’.……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………I aim to keep my drawings as understated as possible and try to suggest a larger narrative by pairing the primal and elemental qualities of ordinary shapes and forms with my fascination for used paper and the dirt, stains and markings they accumulate over time. I use these as a communicator for much bigger messages based on my musings around my barely tangible and sometimes overwhelming thoughts. For example, the complex and unknowable nature of reality, an intimate moment which exists for just a second and is then forgotten or the impossibility of feeling how someone else feels; the list is endless.Relatively valueless materials and simple motifs are brought together to explore the abstract traces of life; to project the vulnerability of love, precariousness of life and inevitability of death which embody the complex and uncertain nature of simply being human.
